Grant Programs - Prospective ApplicantsOn July 20th of this year, the Southern Arizona Komen Affiliate will issue a Request for Proposal (RFP) to non-profit organizations to organize and provide breast cancer programs in Southern Arizona. This year we will continue to offer our Breast Cancer Treatment Block Grant as well as multiple Screening, Treatment Education and Prevention Grants, which address meeting the needs of the medically underserved in our service area. Grant proposals will be due back to the local affiliate on September 14, 2007. A Grants Review Committee will review all proposals and make funding recommendations to the Komen Board of Directors in October. A diverse review panel that includes representatives from the medical and research communities, breast cancer survivors, community leaders and health educators will evaluate all grants for funding recommendations. The Board of Directors will make the final determination and grants will be awarded in early December. Below we outline the grant opportunities now open for applications. Please carefully read the specified guidelines for each award mechanism. In addition, please note that we are offering a grant workshop for potential grantees and former recipients. This grant workshop will be mandatory for all organizations which have previously received funds from the Southern Arizona Affiliate in the past. The intent of the workshop is to inform the interested community on the priority areas set by the community needs assessment and the Board of Directors of the Southern Arizona Affiliate and to provide expert instruction on the granting mechanisms including instruction on completing the application for each of the categories. Prior grantees must attend to be considered in compliance at the time of grant submission. Only one representative from each organization must attend. Workshop details are provided below.
